No matter what format we share our stories in, if we want the idea to spread, it all comes back to the blog.
Publish your photos or writings in an ebook and you may make some pocket change. Publish your stories in a paper book and you'll have an expensive business card. But, if your focus is solely on spreading an idea, nothing beats a blog post. Every other format I've tried ended up being about what was best for me, not my reader.
I just made the A Lesser Photographer manifesto into a blog post. From its new format, it can be more easily shared, quoted and changed when needed.
It feels good to make books, apps and flash portfolios, and, if you're already famous, it makes financial sense. But, for me (and recently one of my favorite authors) the power of the blog post to spread ideas will no longer be ignored in favor of the "book."
